Here’s What to Do When Your Furnace Won’t Ignite
We are getting through the last few weeks of winter but we still are relying on our furnaces, especially during cool nights. Nothing is worse than going to bed at night just to find out your furnace won’t turn on. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are some things you can check yourself before your call Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing.
Check Air Filters
You should change standard air filters each month. If you do not, they can end up clogged, blocking air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Start by turning the thermostat up a few degrees to get the furnace to turn on. If the actual room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t kick on. Also, confirm the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem obvious, but confirm the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch wasn’t accidently moved to the “Off” position.
If you inspect all these things and your heating equipment will still not kick on, give Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing a call at 866-397-3787 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
